cold day on the rocks

the beginning of catching up with the latest highlights...

so, back in February when Nanna was in town visiting for the weekend, we went to the Ice Festival in Crippple Creek, CO.

The kids saw several amazing ice sculptures and even sat on this ice wagon... yes, somehow I caught Landry just as he was sliding off right after I took this picture.
did I mention it was a very cold day? windy too... cute frozen expressions

Kate joined us on the bench and everyone cheered up!

well, we're already freezing- may as well enjoy a little ice cream while we're at it!

perfect way to end a long winter day, cozy in pj's reading bedtime stories with Nanna

whoops...

okay... there is just way too much going on to keep up with... so when you get behind and then your computer crashes and totally dies and then 3 days later you leave on a road trip, don't return until later the next week, then your husband goes out of town before you have a chance to buy a new computer together, then you finally get one the next day... so now you actually have a chance to post on the blog you have been so behind on, but it's so overwhelming, cuz you don't know where to begin, then finally decide to start somewhere, download a few pictures, but you're still getting used to the buttons on your new computer, so you accidently delete the freshly downloaded photos... that's when you give up and say goodnight and promise to try again the next day...

Our Birthday Girl

Nanna came to visit for little Vi's birthday party!
We had lots of fun, and enjoyed Nanna all to ourselves,
since unfortunately- the entire Simpson household had terrible colds all weekend- so sad!

the birthday girl in her "party" chair...

She didn't seem to mind the mess of eating her first piece of cake. She was very curious and managed to get a nice clump of sticky icing in her hair too!

Happy birthday sweet little one... we can't believe you are growing up so fast! You have been such a precious easy-going little baby... always adjusting to new things quickly. We have really enjoyed each new moment with you as you have grown... when you were a newborn you would just sleep anywhere with anything going on. Your sweet temperment and spunky determination are such a fun combination. You love watching your siblings play and learned how to cope with Landry's "love" tackles surprisingly well from an early age! You are fearless in your exploration of the world and continue to find ways to push the limits of your 'comfort zone' as you climb, reach and stretch beyond your ability in order to grow and discover more each day! Our little Villy-Vi (Vy-lee-vy) we love you endlessly and are so excited to see how much more you will accomplish in the next few years as you venture into toddlerhood.

having fun with the party favors before climbing into bed... their new bunkbeds that is!
We'll have to post pictures soon. Landry finally transitioned from his crib w/tent to share a bottom bunk with Bella on top! They love it :)
