never say never!

just made my first cloth diaper order! whew! so many decisions, I think my head may stop spinning soon... I have been evaluating our options for over a week now and finally placed the order.

I loved all the great info and descriptions on this site
and found the diapers for us on this site

We decided to go with a pocket diaper (bumGenuis!) which are just like a disposable, all-in-one diaper like Fuzzi Buns, but they also grow with baby- so one size fits all! We'll see :)

A year ago, I would have never thought I'd be interested in cloth diapers at all! In fact I always thought, "Disposable diapers are one thing we couldn't live without, they are so worth the extra cost! Those cloth diaper moms are some type of fanatics"

Now, here I am excited for my package to come, so I can start using these cozy soft cloth diapers! Hah!

I was mostly intimidated by the "traditional" pre-fold diapers and safety pins, seemed to be such a hassle and mess... but there are so many different options now with all kinds of diapers for just about every personality/lifestyle!

I'll let you know if I do in fact become a true cloth diaper fanatic :)

Bella decided to take a train ride to Caterina's house this afternoon. (We are reading a book titled: Caterina the clever farm girl) So she arranged her chairs and got some special stuffed animals tucked in their seats, even her enormous elephant Nellie found a spot on the train. Once Landry got up from his nap, Bella made a spot for him too. He was still drowsy from naptime, so he actually sat still for about 3 minutes in the train- a personal record for our little man without food involved.

Such a classic little kid imaginary play moment, wouldn't it be fun to be 3 again?! Well, for a few hours anyway :)

check out this awesome ramp i used to make sure my ball gained enough speed to actually reached the pins... no really, without the ramp my ball came to a complete standstill in the middle of the lane.

We're back...

Well, here's a message on this oft-neglected blog... for anyone who may think we quit posting altogether...

We just returned from our week-long trip to Springfield, MO to visit family. We came home Wednesday night and Nate reported back to work on Thursday. Summer vacation is over for the Chrastina's. I wish that meant the summer heat was ending soon too! I will be posting some photos as soon as possible. Our home phone + internet is disconnected until later this week, so when we get back "online" I can upload some photos.

We also got a new (used) car on craigslist.com
Olsmobile Custom Cruiser stationwagon- works great- took us to MO and back without a hitch! We are getting used to the luxury of power locks and windows :) Landry loves to push the buttons too... a little too much- while we were in Dallas on the trip back visiting friends, Nate popped Landry in the front seat with a snack while he started the car and the AC to cool things off. Nate got out for a sec to help get Bella loaded and when we turned around Landry had pushed the fateful "lock" button on the door... oh yes, we had an extra key- inside the car!! A few minutes later the Dallas Fire Dept. arrives informing us they don't carry slim jims anymore, but they had a handy ball-peen hammer to shatter the window. Since the air was on inside the car and Landry was happy as a lark with his snack still in hand, they advised us to go around the corner to a locksmith who was able to successfully break into our car, saving us a window replacement.
