Well, Annie has been reflecting on the Above Rubies retreat we attended last weekend... she has some sweet heartfelt reflections i would encourage all to read. Annie really has a true gift for expressing her thoughts in writing!

I have been listening to Serene & Pearl's CD, Soothe Me, ever since I got home! As these two sisters sang at the retreat (Nancy Campbell's daughters) I was enraptured by the quiet beauty of their music and sweet lyrics. Here are some lyrics from my new favorite song, Mother's Prayer, from this album. As Landry just turned one year old this past Sunday, my heart is full of emotion as I listen to this song...
may this always be my prayer, my life, my moment by moment desire...

Oh child of mine
the Giver of life has given you to me
and oh child of mine
the pages of your life we're yet to read
there's only so much
I can do in the time He gives a mother
To lead you to the One who loves you like no other
chorus:
Seek Him and find Him
Fall fervently in love with Jesus
Trust Him and serve Him
Live every breath for what He teaches
Then He'll be close, when I'm no longer there
That's your mother's prayer...

I wish you could hear the music as you read the words... the melody is beautiful.

our little duo

Welcome spring,
welcome...
green grass
sunshine
wiggly toes
birdies singing
lazy picnics
blossoming flowers
baby steps
toddler explorings
new discoveries
silly songs
... welcome each little blessing from above... Posted by Picasa

His Instruction

I found this gem of a verse today in Titus 2:4-5. Very convicting and yet so simple.

"Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,
to be self-controlled and pure,
to be busy at home,
to be kind,
and to be subject to their husbands,
so that no one will malign the word of God."

May it be so in my life Lord. My prayer is to find and listen to mentoring wives and mothers who can give me Godly instruction to cultivate these attributes in my daily life. By His grace alone.

AMAZING Resource!

Wow! I am still in shock over this incredible find :) There is a place called "Family Connections" which has wonderful educational resources for parents of young children. They have a Family Library where you can check out all sorts of children's books (organized better than the library!) , parenting books, age-appropriate toys, manipulatives, games, audio-visual material, puppets & theatre and so much more!

Everything is so orderly and clean (they sanitize each item before putting it back on the shelf, in clear boxes or plastic bags). They even have a great little play area for your toddlers to play while you look around and/or check-out! This is an INCREDIBLE resource for any SAHM, especially if you want to homeschool but don't have the money or space to keep all the educational items your children need.
You can check out up to 3 items in each category and keep for up to 2 weeks. The best part is, it's all FREE!
i
I was able to find a box of chunky wooden beads with laces for Bella to practice lacing, she loved making her "necklace" when I got home. I also got a big picture book for Landry of baby animals, he loves animal pictures- dogs are his most favorite.

I only wish it was closer to us :) It is on 53rd 1/2 street interesecting Airport Blvd. By the way, I strongly recommend printing a map (It took me forever to find it today!)
Oh yeah, they also have Storytimes, free parenting workshops, and a teacher workroom where you can use their die-cuts, laminating, art paper, etc...
This place is a goldmine of resources!!!
I can hardly believe it :)

Let me know what you think/find also if you get a chance to go by... I could only stay for 15 minutes today, so I am sure I missed a lot more. Can't wait to go again!

Here's the link to check it out online,
